This wraps up my Project 365. This was an incredible experience and I couldn’t have completed it without the support of my friends and family. Thanks everyone for all the encouragement throughout the last year, it really made a difference. When I began this project a year ago I was feeling like I had lost my creative muse and at the same time was at very uncreative point in my life. Now that my muse has come back to me and I have gained a new vision, I will do whatever it takes to keep my muse with me. A special thanks to my wife Michele who has always been my greatest source of encouragement.
Cheers everyone!
I'll be taking a photo a day for the next year and place the images on this blog. This is a way for me to become a better photographer and will force me to dig deeper to expand my vision.

Day 365

Day 364
I ran through all of my favorite spots to take pictures in my mind and decided on the Ste. Michelle Winery for my second to last day in this P365. This is the fountain where I’ve taken many shots. But I wanted to do something a little different this time and concentrate on large graphic areas, repeating shapes and balance. As usal, when I go to Ste. Michelle, I end up with too many choices for my final image...... I choose this one for the mood.

Day 363
I caught this barn cat taking advantage of the sun today at Farrel McWhirter Park in Redmond. This is pretty much right off the sensor with a couple of tweaks. I could tell from the other captures that this little guy had a problem with his right eye, it was a little cloudy. So I have to touch that up a bit.

Spring is trying really hard here in the Pacific Northwest but Winter is still holding on.

Day 361
Via Flickr:
It took me 361 days but I finally got a snowboarder shot. Here’s a shot from Holy Oly up at Hyak today. I’m a rank amateur at snowboarding photography so this by no means a great photo. There are so many shooters that live and breath this stuff that are so beyond me, that I really can’t compete. But for my equipment and the flat lighting at the hill today, this turned out OK. The Method is spot on and the colors are nice other than that it’s not anything I’m going to quit my job over.

Day 360
My friend Andrew came in to say good bye today because he’s leaving to work somewhere else. As a parting gift I let him choose my POD from the 7 shots I has in my quick selection queue.

Day 357
Selfies are a crapshoot for me, either they turn out really nice or they look like crap. So when I get something I like, I use it. This may be the last selfie of my P365, we shall see.

Day 356
One thing that I’ve learned during the past year of working on my P365 is when the weather is bad outside, it’s time to get out and shoot. There are lots of compositional rules being broken here but it still seems to work. There’s also something very French about this shot that I’m really drawn to.

Day 355
Via Flickr:
I had to do a quick shoot this morning before helping some friends with their website. This is the second time I’ve shot these dead flowers in the backyard so I kind of knew what I wanted to do. To develop this I started with a preset I’ve been developing called family heirloom. This has an Art Nuevo feeling in that in that it draws it’s beauty from nature.

Day 354
Via Flickr:
Attempting to do something different with an icon. The Space Needle was actually being lit up against the dark clouds in the background so I didn’t have to do much to make this work.

Day 353
We went to a exotic animal farm in the rain today. What a mess but I was able to take some fun pictures. They had kangaroos, wallabies, alpacas, lamas and ostriches. This Michele feeding an alpaca.

Day 352
After looking over my images from today, I really like this composition better than the daffodil I uploaded earlier. There’s a nice balance between the dog and the empty bench which implies a connection.

Day 351
As I was taking photos of these two geese swimming in the upper pond at Ste Michelle today, the one on the left hopped up on the edge and turned to face the other. I couldn’t believe the composition! Of course my camera was having problems finding a focus point that wasn’t in the center so I has to swap to focus points really quickly. I only had a few seconds to take this picture. Geese really don’t understand the meaning of “hold that pose!”

Day 350
With only 15 days left in this project I wanted to get a little creative today. I set up my camera in front of the coolers at work and waited for someone to come walking in. I developed this with a bleached bypass preset and then added some solarization . The result reminds me of a 70’s illustration.

Day 349
Rocks and clouds. I took a similar photo way in the beginning of this project and I wanted to take another one for a comparison as to how far I’ve come since then. I think I’ve come a long way!

Day 348

The Case Nooksack Cemetery. I saw this little cemetery on the way home from Mt Bake today. It's an odd little photo.
Day 347
Via Flickr:
Taken in the Mt Baker backcountry during Splitfest 2011. This is Dean from Prior Snowboards making his way up to Herman Saddle.
Day 346
This photo was taken from the top of char 5 at Mt Baker Ski area. The Mountain in the background is Mt Shuksan.

Day 344
I saw this guy changing the billboard on the way to work this morning. I pulled the truck over and did the quickest lens swap in the history of mankind all while jumping out the door. I get so excited when MacDonald’s has a great new deal coming soon!
Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Day 343
I’ve taken a couple of shots in this Kirkland downtown alley but this time I just aimed my camera and waited from someone to complete my composition for me. When this waiter came down the stairs on his way to a smoke break I had my shot.

Day 342
Via Flickr:
Cannoli! I don’t think I’ve had a Cannoli since we left Chicago. This little bit of goodness was found at Barolo’s Ristorante in downtown Seattle.
Day 341
Via Flickr:
Meet the next poster icon for pet, dental hygiene. I didn’t even have to add the tooth brush in Photoshop because this little guy loves to brush his teeth. We just needed to get him in a spot where the light was nice. Now, if we can just get him to floss.

Day 337
Portrait of a goat at Farrel McWhiter Park in Redmond. I shot this from a low opening in the fence. He thought the camera was something to eat because he kept on getting closer.

Day 335
Another Powrider caught on film! I found this Powrider lurking about at Snoqualmie this morning. The snow was heavy enough that I should probably reclassify this as a “Poohrider”.
Day 334
Well if I walk into a restaurant with a camera, there’s a pretty good chance I’m going to take your picture. I really like how the left side of her face is fading into the shadows.
Monday, March 14, 2011
Day 333
I saw from the window of my truck and grabbed my camera and fired off a bracketed set before the guy on the right stepped down. But the light changed and I had to move on anyway.

Day 332
The trees below the meadow at Yodelin. Yeah, they are pretty but this is the wrong way back to the truck.

Day 330
Totally at a loss of what to shoot today I just started driving and ended up in a parking lot at Marina Park in Kirkland. Just a couple steps from my car I saw this veedub looking all hippy like. The owner even had stuffed animals in the back window to finish off the composition.

Day 324
Via Flickr:
This was the last day of my snowboarding vacation. We snowboarded 5 of 7 days, 3 new ski resorts, 3 sunny days, 2 powder days, uncountable chair lift rides and my first poma lift, I’m a little tired. I shot this shadow self portrait at the top of Look Out Pass Ski Resort in North Idaho. It was a beautiful sunny morning with 4 inches of new snow. What a wonderful way to end a great vacation.

Day 322
This is a simple shot up in the alpine at Big Sky, MT. I really like the feeling and simplicity of this shot.
Day 321
This is my shot of the day, literally! A shot of Jagermeister at the The Pinnacle, a bar in the alpine at Big Sky Ski resort. I took a couple more runs after this and they were really fast!
Tuesday, March 1, 2011
Day 320
Big Sky resort had a lot of lifts on wind hold again today so we went out to explore the area. This is a river just off the side of the road.
Monday, February 28, 2011
Day 319
Doing a little retro photography with a point and shoot at Big Sky today. Winds were gusting at 40+ so most of the mountain was on wind hold. But we got in a full day for riding anyway. This really is a big mountain!

Day 316
I’ve shot this wind mill before but this has a totally different feeling to it. Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’ve just been reshooting the same things over again so I tried to shoot this in totally different way. Now, looking at this I really wish I would have taken one or two steps to the left so to center the windmill blades between the trees. Hindsight is 20/20.
I’m really looking forward to spending the next week in Montana. A change of scenery will do me a world of good.
Thursday, February 24, 2011
Day 315
50 days and counting! I’ve shot this greenhouse at Ste. Michelle Winery a couple of times now but after 315 days it’s getting harder to come up with new things to shoot. The snow is something you wouldn’t normally see on this greenhouse so it’s fairly unique.

Day 314
There's a winter storm warning today in the Seattle area so I’m keeping an eye on the weather. I’m picking Michele up at the airport later this afternoon and it’s looking like a snowy drive. Hoping to pick her up and get home before the conditions get too bad.
